NABI MUHAMMAD (632 SM - 570 SM)

Berasal-usul dari keluarga sederhana, Muhammad menegakkan dan menyebarkan salah satu dari agama terbesar di dunia, Agama Islam. Dan pada saat yang bersamaan tampil sebagai seorang pemimpin tangguh, tulen, dan efektif. Kini tiga belas abad sesudah wafatnya, pengaruhnya masih tetap kuat dan mendalam serta berakar.
Sebagian besar dari orang-orang yang tercantum di dalam buku ini merupakan makhluk beruntung karena lahir dan dibesarkan di pusat-pusat peradaban manusia, berkultur tinggi dan tempat perputaran politik bangsa-bangsa. Muhammad lahir pada tahun 570 M, di kota Mekkah, di bagian agak selatan Jazirah Arabia, suatu tempat yang waktu itu merupakan daerah yang paling terbelakang di dunia, jauh dari pusat perdagangan, seni maupun ilmu pengetahuan. Menjadi yatim-piatu di umur enam tahun, dibesarkan dalam situasi sekitar yang sederhana dan rendah hati. Sumber-sumber Islam menyebutkan bahwa Muhamnmad seorang buta huruf. Keadaan ekonominya baru mulai membaik di umur dua puluh lima tahun tatkala dia kawin dengan seorang janda berada. Bagaimanapun, sampai mendekati umur empat puluh tahun nyaris tak tampak petunjuk keluarbiasaannya sebagai manusia.
Umumnya, bangsa Arab saat itu tak memeluk agama tertentu kecuali penyembah berhala Di kota Mekkah ada sejumlah kecil pemeluk-pemeluk Agama Yahudi dan Nasrani, dan besar kemungkinan dari merekalah Muhammad untuk pertama kali mendengar perihal adanya satu Tuhan Yang Mahakuasa, yang mengatur seantero alam. Tatkala dia berusia empatpuluh tahun, Muhammad yakin bahwa Tuhan Yang Maha Esa ini menyampaikan sesuatu kepadanya dan memilihnya untuk jadi penyebar kepercayaan yang benar.
Selama tiga tahun Muhammad hanya menyebar agama terbatas pada kawan-kawan dekat dan kerabatnya. Baru tatkala memasuki tahun 613 dia mulai tampil di depan publik. Begitu dia sedikit demi sedikit punya pengikut, penguasa Mekkah memandangnya sebagai orang berbahaya, pembikin onar. Di tahun 622, cemas terhadap keselamatannya, Muhammad hijrah ke Madinah, kota di utara Mekkah berjarak 200 mil. Di kota itu dia ditawari posisi kekuasaan politik yang cukup meyakinkan.
Peristiwa hijrah ini merupakan titik balik penting bagi kehidupan Nabi. Di Mekkah dia susah memperoleh sejumlah kecil pengikut, dan di Medinah pengikutnya makin bertambah sehingga dalam tempo cepat dia dapat memperoleh pengaruh yang menjadikannya seorang pemegang kekuasaan yang sesungguhnya. Pada tahun-tahun berikutnya sementara pengikut Muhammad bertumbuhan bagai jamur, serentetan pertempuran pecah antara Mektah dan Madinah. Peperangan ini berakhir tahun 630 dengan kemenangan pada pihak Muhammad, kembali ke Mekkah selaku penakluk. Sisa dua setengah tahun dari hidupnya dia menyaksikan kemajuan luar-biasa dalam hal cepatnya suku-suku Arab memeluk Agama Islam. Dan tatkala Muhammad wafat tahun 632, dia sudah memastikan dirinya selaku penguasa efektif seantero Jazirah Arabia bagian selatan.
Suku Bedewi punya tradisi turun-temurun sebagai prajurit-prajurit yang tangguh dan berani. Tapi, jumlah mereka tidaklah banyak dan senantiasa tergoda perpecahan dan saling melabrak satu sama lain. Itu sebabnya mereka tidak bisa mengungguli tentara dari kerajaan-kerajaan yang mapan di daerah pertanian di belahan utara. Tapi, Muhammadlah orang pertama dalam sejarah, berkat dorongan kuat kepercayaan kepada keesaan Tuhan, pasukan Arab yang kecil itu sanggup melakukan serentetan penaklukan yang mencengangkan dalam sejarah manusia. Di sebelah timurlaut Arab berdiri Kekaisaran Persia Baru Sassanids yang luas. Di baratlaut Arabia berdiri Byzantine atau Kekaisaran Romawi Timur dengan Konstantinopel sebagai pusatnya.
Ditilik dari sudut jumlah dan ukuran, jelas Arab tidak bakal mampu menghadapinya. Namun, di medan pertempuran, pasukan Arab yang membara semangatnya dengan sapuan kilat dapat menaklukkan Mesopotamia, Siria, dan Palestina. Pada tahun 642 Mesir direbut dari genggaman Kekaisaran Byzantine, dan sementara itu balatentara Persia dihajar dalam pertempuran yang amat menentukan di Qadisiya tahun 637 dan di Nehavend tahun 642.
Tapi, penaklukan besar-besaran --di bawah pimpinan sahabat Nabi dan penggantinya Abu Bakr dan Umar ibn al-Khattab-- itu tidak menunjukkan tanda-tanda stop sampai di situ. Pada tahun 711, pasukan Arab telah menyapu habis Afrika Utara hingga ke tepi Samudera Atlantik. Dari situ mereka membelok ke utara dan menyeberangi Selat Gibraltar dan melabrak kerajaan Visigothic di Spanyol.
Sepintas lalu orang mesti mengira pasukan Muslim akan membabat habis semua Nasrani Eropa. Tapi pada tahun 732, dalam pertempuran yang masyhur dan dahsyat di Tours, satu pasukan Muslimin yang telah maju ke pusat negeri Perancis pada akhirnya dipukul oleh orang-orang Frank. Biarpun begitu, hanya dalam tempo secuwil abad pertempuran, orang-orang Bedewi ini -dijiwai dengan ucapan-ucapan Nabi Muhammad- telah mendirikan sebuah empirium membentang dari perbatasan India hingga pasir putih tepi pantai Samudera Atlantik, sebuah empirium terbesar yang pernah dikenal sejarah manusia. Dan di mana pun penaklukan dilakukan oleh pasukan Muslim, selalu disusul dengan berbondong-bondongnya pemeluk masuk Agama Islam.
Ternyata, tidak semua penaklukan wilayah itu bersifat permanen. Orang-orang Persia, walaupun masih tetap penganut setia Agama Islam, merebut kembali kemerdekaannya dari tangan Arab. Dan di Spanyol, sesudah melalui peperangan tujuh abad lamanya akhirnya berhasil dikuasai kembali oleh orang-orang Nasrani. Sementara itu, Mesopotamia dan Mesir dua tempat kelahiran kebudayaan purba, tetap berada di tangan Arab seperti halnya seantero pantai utara Afrika. Agama Islam, tentu saja, menyebar terus dari satu abad ke abad lain, jauh melangkah dari daerah taklukan. Umumnya jutaan penganut Islam bertebaran di Afrika, Asia Tengah, lebih-lebih Pakistan dan India sebelah utara serta Indonesia. Di Indonesia, Agama Islam yang baru itu merupakan faktor pemersatu. Di anak benua India, nyaris kebalikannya: adanya agama baru itu menjadi sebab utama terjadinya perpecahan.
Apakah pengaruh Nabi Muhammad yang paling mendasar terhadap sejarah ummat manusia? Seperti halnya lain-lain agama juga, Islam punya pengaruh luar biasa besarnya terhadap para penganutnya. Itu sebabnya mengapa penyebar-penyebar agama besar di dunia semua dapat tempat dalam buku ini. Jika diukur dari jumlah, banyaknya pemeluk Agama Nasrani dua kali lipat besarnya dari pemeluk Agama Islam, dengan sendirinya timbul tanda tanya apa alasan menempatkan urutan Nabi Muhammad lebih tinggi dari Nabi Isa dalam daftar. Ada dua alasan pokok yang jadi pegangan saya. Pertama, Muhammad memainkan peranan jauh lebih penting dalam pengembangan Islam ketimbang peranan Nabi Isa terhadap Agama Nasrani. Biarpun Nabi Isa bertanggung jawab terhadap ajaran-ajaran pokok moral dan etika Kristen (sampai batas tertentu berbeda dengan Yudaisme), St. Paul merupakan tokoh penyebar utama teologi Kristen, tokoh penyebarnya, dan penulis bagian terbesar dari Perjanjian Lama.
Sebaliknya Muhammad bukan saja bertanggung jawab terhadap teologi Islam tapi sekaligus juga terhadap pokok-pokok etika dan moralnya. Tambahan pula dia "pencatat" Kitab Suci Al-Quran, kumpulan wahyu kepada Muhammad yang diyakininya berasal langsung dari Allah. Sebagian terbesar dari wahyu ini disalin dengan penuh kesungguhan selama Muhammad masih hidup dan kemudian dihimpun dalam bentuk yang tak tergoyangkan tak lama sesudah dia wafat. Al-Quran dengan demikian berkaitan erat dengan pandangan-pandangan Muhammad serta ajaran-ajarannya karena dia bersandar pada wahyu Tuhan. Sebaliknya, tak ada satu pun kumpulan yang begitu terperinci dari ajaran-ajaran Isa yang masih dapat dijumpai di masa sekarang. Karena Al-Quran bagi kaum Muslimin sedikit banyak sama pentingnya dengan Injil bagi kaum Nasrani, pengaruh Muhammad dengan perantaraan Al-Quran teramatlah besarnya. Kemungkinan pengaruh Muhammad dalam Islam lebih besar dari pengaruh Isa dan St. Paul dalam dunia Kristen digabung jadi satu. Diukur dari semata mata sudut agama, tampaknya pengaruh Muhammad setara dengan Isa dalam sejarah kemanusiaan.
Lebih jauh dari itu (berbeda dengan Isa) Muhammad bukan semata pemimpin agama tapi juga pemimpin duniawi. Fakta menunjukkan, selaku kekuatan pendorong terhadap gerak penaklukan yang dilakukan bangsa Arab, pengaruh kepemimpinan politiknya berada dalam posisi terdepan sepanjang waktu.
Dari pelbagai peristiwa sejarah, orang bisa saja berkata hal itu bisa terjadi tanpa kepemimpinan khusus dari seseorang yang mengepalai mereka. Misalnya, koloni-koloni di Amerika Selatan mungkin saja bisa membebaskan diri dari kolonialisme Spanyol walau Simon Bolivar tak pernah ada di dunia. Tapi, misal ini tidak berlaku pada gerak penaklukan yang dilakukan bangsa Arab. Tak ada kejadian serupa sebelum Muhammad dan tak ada alasan untuk menyangkal bahwa penaklukan bisa terjadi dan berhasil tanpa Muhammad. Satu-satunya kemiripan dalam hal penaklukan dalam sejarah manusia di abad ke-13 yang sebagian terpokok berkat pengaruh Jengis Khan. Penaklukan ini, walau lebih luas jangkauannya ketimbang apa yang dilakukan bangsa Arab, tidaklah bisa membuktikan kemapanan, dan kini satu-satunya daerah yang diduduki oleh bangsa Mongol hanyalah wilayah yang sama dengan sebelum masa Jengis Khan
Ini jelas menunjukkan beda besar dengan penaklukan yang dilakukan oleh bangsa Arab. Membentang dari Irak hingga Maroko, terbentang rantai bangsa Arab yang bersatu, bukan semata berkat anutan Agama Islam tapi juga dari jurusan bahasa Arabnya, sejarah dan kebudayaan. Posisi sentral Al-Quran di kalangan kaum Muslimin dan tertulisnya dalam bahasa Arab, besar kemungkinan merupakan sebab mengapa bahasa Arab tidak terpecah-pecah ke dalam dialek-dialek yang berantarakan. Jika tidak, boleh jadi sudah akan terjadi di abad ke l3. Perbedaan dan pembagian Arab ke dalam beberapa negara tentu terjadi -tentu saja- dan nyatanya memang begitu, tapi perpecahan yang bersifat sebagian-sebagian itu jangan lantas membuat kita alpa bahwa persatuan mereka masih berwujud. Tapi, baik Iran maupun Indonesia yang kedua-duanya negeri berpenduduk Muslimin dan keduanya penghasil minyak, tidak ikut bergabung dalam sikap embargo minyak pada musim dingin tahun 1973 - 1974. Sebaliknya bukanlah barang kebetulan jika semua negara Arab, semata-mata negara Arab, yang mengambil langkah embargo minyak.
Jadi, dapatlah kita saksikan, penaklukan yang dilakukan bangsa Arab di abad ke-7 terus memainkan peranan penting dalam sejarah ummat manusia hingga saat ini. Dari segi inilah saya menilai adanya kombinasi tak terbandingkan antara segi agama dan segi duniawi yang melekat pada pengaruh diri Muhammad sehingga saya menganggap Muhammad dalam arti pribadi adalah manusia yang paling berpengaruh dalam sejarah manusia.

Muhammad PBUH (Prophet)

Introduction
Muhammad (prophet) (570?-632), last prophet of Islam, whose revelations, encompassing political and social as well as religious principles, became the basis of Islamic civilization and have had a vast influence on world history.
Muhammad was born in Mecca. He belonged to the clan of Hashim, a poor but respected branch of the prestigious and influential tribe of Quraysh. His father died before he was born. After his mother's death when he was six, he was brought up by his grandfather Abd al-Muttalib, and after his grandfather's death, by his uncle Abu Talib. Pensive and withdrawn in temperament, he displayed an acute moral sensitivity at an early age, and he was known as al-Amin (“the trusted one”). Like his fellow tribesmen, he became a trader and made several journeys to Syria, where he may have met and conversed with Christians. He then began to manage the business of a rich widow, Khadija; she was greatly impressed by both his honesty and ability, and she shortly offered him marriage, which he accepted. Muhammad was 25 years old and Khadija may have been as old as 40 at the time.


First revelation
Muhammad probably heard Christians and Jews expound their religious views at commercial fairs in Mecca, and, troubled by the questions they raised, he periodically withdrew to a cave outside Mecca to meditate and pray for guidance. During one of these retreats he experienced a vision of the archangel Gabriel, who proclaimed him a prophet of God. He was greatly perplexed by the experience but was reassured by his wife, and, as new revelations followed, he came to accept his prophetic mission. His wife and his cousin Ali became his first followers, and eventually he began to preach in public, reciting the verses of his revelation, which came to be known as the Qur'an (Koran). He gained some prominent converts, but the movement grew slowly.


Teachings
Muhammad's earliest teachings emphasized his belief in one transcendent but personal God, the Last Judgment, and social and economic justice. God, he asserted, had sent prophets to other nations throughout history, but, having failed to reform, those nations had been destroyed. Muhammad proclaimed his own message, the Qur'an, to be the last revealed Book and himself to be the last of the prophets, consummating and superseding the earlier ones.


Opposition
Insisting on the necessity of social reform, Muhammad advocated improving the lot of slaves, orphans, women, and the poor and replacing tribal loyalties with the fellowship of Islamic faith. This egalitarian and reformist tendency quickly aroused the enmity of the rich merchants who dominated Mecca. They persecuted some of Muhammad's weaker followers, and in 615 he ordered 83 families to take refuge in Ethiopia. When both his beloved wife Khadija and his uncle and protector Abu Talib died in 619, he despaired of his position in Mecca. After an unsuccessful effort to convert the nearby town of AţŢā’if, he was approached by a delegation from Yathrib (later Medina), a city about 300 km (about 186 mi) to the north that was divided by tribal feuds. They asked him to arbitrate the feuds, offering him considerable authority. After careful negotiations, Muhammad accepted and asked his followers to emigrate from Mecca to Medina.


The Hegira
Muhammad left Mecca just as his enemies were preparing to murder him, and he arrived in Medina eight days later. His emigration became known as the Hegira (Arabic hijrah) and marks the beginning of the Islamic calendar.
Muhammad was soon given supreme authority in Medina, and he began to establish the ritual practices of Islam and to carry out social reforms. He promulgated a charter that specified the rights and relationships of the Muslims, Jews, and other groups of the city. The Meccans, meanwhile, persisted in their hostility, demanding the extradition of Muhammad and his Meccan followers. They were supported in Medina by a group, referred to in the Qur'an as the Hypocrites, who had submitted to Islam but were secretly working against it. This group in turn was aided by the three Jewish tribes that were residing in Medina.


War With Mecca
Muhammad's strategy in the developing conflict with Mecca was to attack Meccan trade caravans returning from Syria and thus economically weaken the city. In 624, the first major battle occurred, in which the Muslims, despite their inferiority in numbers and weapons, soundly defeated the Meccans. In the next major battle, the following year, the Meccans had the advantage but were unable to achieve a decisive victory. A Meccan army of 10,000 besieged Medina in 627 but failed to take the city. Muhammad meanwhile eliminated his enemies within Medina. After each of the first two battles he expelled a Jewish tribe, and after the third major battle he had the males of the remaining tribe massacred for collaborating with his opponents.


Victory
In 630, the Meccans, unable to conquer Medina and crippled by the severing of their trade routes, finally submitted peacefully to Muhammad, who treated the city generously, declaring a general amnesty. Tribal delegations arrived from throughout Arabia, and their tribes were soon converted to Islam. Muhammad, now the most powerful leader in Arabia, enforced the principles of Islam and established the foundation of the Islamic empire. He ordered the destruction of the idols in the Kaaba, the traditional place of pilgrimage in Mecca, which then became the holiest shrine of Islam. He granted Jews and Christians religious autonomy as “peoples of the Book,” whose revelations anticipated his own. On his last visit to Mecca, at the time of the annual pilgrimage, he gave a sermon in which he summarized his reforms, declared the brotherhood of Muslims, and repudiated all distinctions of class, color, and race. He died suddenly and unexpectedly in Medina about a year later, on June 8, 632.


Descendants
As long as Khadija lived, Muhammad took no other wives. After her death in 619, when he was 50, he eventually married several other women, including Aisha, the daughter of his kinsman and early follower Abu Bakr, who was to become the first caliph, or successor to Muhammad. He also took a Christian Coptic slave as a concubine and may have married her after setting her free. Muhammad's sons all died in infancy, and the only daughter to survive him was Fatima, who married Ali, the fourth caliph.

How do Adsense change the internet?

Ever since Google came up with the master idea that is AdSense, the web has transformed in a variety of ways no one would have ever suspected. Some of these are good changes others aren't.

This is a small exploration of how a brilliant marketing scheme has taken the web by storm. It deals with the changes advertisers and publishers and even website visitors have undergone ever since AdSense has become a daily part of our on-line lives.

Even before AdSense came out a lot of people were advertising through AdWords. It ensured a lot of publicity through getting your site listed at the top in Google search queries. It took away a lot of the pain and price of SEO and the large amount of time you had to wait until you were finally on top. It made launching a website, a realistic way to instant profitability instead of a long term strategy with no immediate returns.

Through the use of AdSense, the possibility appeared of having your ads appear on just about any site on the Internet that has anything that even resembles your company is all about. And so it's for that reason that AdSense has brought a new sense of advertising to the Internet. Before PPC poorly ranked web pages had to advertise offline to get any real initial exposure.

Companies no longer have to hire expensive professionals to create extremely elaborate advertising campaigns. There are no high costs of running your ads on websites which you have to personally look for.

All you do is come up with a couple of meaningful words for your business, sign up with Google AdWords and let Google take care of the rest of the equation. Although it requires day to day management automation saves significant time for advertisers.

Of course, probably the largest change in the way the Internet works due to AdSense comes from the publishers' point of view. Whereas one would previously have to jump through many hoops to get a website to even support itself now people are making fortunes off their sites. This leads to motivation for content, and resources for web surfers.
That generally means site publishers have to worry more about what content lies on their site, and the overall way their pages look rather then be concerned with the economic specifics of maintaining a site’s profitability. Although time is invested in adsense, a large capital investment is not.

It's no surprise that the blogging phenomenon exploded when AdSense came out a few years ago. Anyone could just write a page about a subject he was passionate about and making a living out of it through AdSense.
And thirdly, one can't ignore the impact AdSense has had over the casual everyday web surfer. Whereas people used to not even notice banners altogether (which psychologically is a very interesting thing to observe) the situation is completely different for text ads.

People nowadays will take a long look at a sponsored ad. Why? Well because the whole setup brings forth a feeling of confidence about the advertiser. People don't ignore a text ad as easily as they do a graphical banner.
Another thing to note is that graphical banners have become even less profitable nowadays. It is because of this that many people are walking away from affiliate type networks to AdSense.

Of course, there are bad effects as well, with people making websites solely for the purpose of running AdSense on them and just as well, with a large phenomenon of 'click fraud', people creating artificial clicks for various reasons.
But Google does try to control such behavior, and really isn't to be blamed for such individuals' actions. All in all Google AdSense is transforming the way the Internet works and it's doing so mostly in a good way.

Now those with ideas can write them down, and make money from them. Those looking for content can find it easier, and those looking to attract a customer base can do so in a targeted way. Adsense has changed the internet through supporting the economic interests of businesses, and the utility of consumers.

Click Fraud

If you're using AdWords or AdSense you must have heard about an emerging practice in the underworld of computing called "click fraud". But what exactly is click fraud and how is it accomplished?

Well AdSense uses a payment mechanism that awards a certain amount of money to a publisher (someone who holds an AdSense banner on their page) every time a person clicks on the said banner. So click fraud is the attempt to have people clicking the ads just so that they can earn a greater income.

There are people setting up sites for the sole purpose of fraudulently generating revenue through Google's AdSense program. These users achieve an incredible number of clicks through many methods, some complex and sophisticated and some rudimentary and simple.

One of the most complex is through the use of so called "hitbots". These are automated programs who emulate clicking the links in AdSense banners (there are some that actually click the banners as well).

Google's AdSense protection scheme is by no means perfect and nearly anyone can find the details of surmounting the protection mechanism, ironically just by doing a Google search.

Another, more rudimentary method is to hire a lot of people in a poor country to click the links on your site. This means these people will actually sit all day and just click links so you can earn a fortune. They come from very poor countries like India, and they're prepared to do so for just $0.50 an hour.

Of course, there's a problem with this mechanism. Once Google receives a large number of clicks from a single address, the address and the site that had the AdSense banner will be banned, and the illicit behavior might even get the fraudster sued.

To prevent this from happening, many people use a large number of proxy servers for the purpose of clicking. These are basically trojans, located on computers throughout the world (though mostly in the US). What's even more daunting is that these clicks will appear to originate from an actual computer so such scams are really hard to detect.

And don't think this happens only in isolated instances. There is a great deal of illegal activity in this domain.

In fact there's so much that if search engine companies don't increase their security with such programs as AdSense, such criminal behavior could become more become even more damaging.

Google has a very strict policy regarding click fraud, and it has sued those employing such techniques in the past. But while the search engine giant tries its best to minimize the risk of click fraud there's certainly room for a lot of improvement.

It is estimated that more then 20% of the clicks that follow an AdSense link are just done in order to get money from the person paying for the ad. Some people believe the number of fraudulent clicks to be even twice as large.

There are a great deal more schemes involving click fraud, such as groups of AdSense publishers clicking each other's links (which is referred to as "clicking rings", or spamming people so that they click such links.

Despite Google still holding click fraud on a leash, the phenomenon is certainly raising concerns for the advertisers on AdWords, but despite this advertising with Google's AdSense still remains more profitable for the advertiser, as opposed to traditional untargeted advertising schemes.

There are some means of protection against such schemes and all advertisers should be savvy enough to employ them. Many advertisers choose to avoid the content network all together for fear of click fraud.

Why do advertisers support Adsense?

Google is the biggest search engine on the web. It controls over 40% of Internet searches, and with that it controls pay per click advertising (pay per click). PPC involves the advertiser paying a rate for every click through (CTR) in which the advertisers set. As their budget increases, their position increases, and as their position increases, they get more traffic.

This has lead to over 140,000 companies choosing to advertise with them, and they advertise in a number of ways. The first way is through is through appearing on Google searches, the second is through appearing on distributors websites, and the third is through appearing in distributors search results. As advertisers appear in Google searches, the question is sometimes asked. Why do they choose to advertise with distributors as well?

One reason for this is scalability. Those who originally choose to advertise in search results and who were getting a ROI (return on investment) will decide at one point that they need to identify other advertising opportunities. With thousands of websites which have the capacity to display their adverts the advertisers can gain further exposure very quickly.

Another reason why advertisers choose to advertise in Google distributors websites is that it gains them further exposure. 60% of internet users do not use Google, so the advertiser can appeal to a wider audience through choosing to opt for distribution channels. Many website users may be looking to buy a product such as a phone, yet instead of coming across a website which sells such a product, they come across an article. If the article is on a website which contains Adsense then inevitably advertisers can use this channel to penetrate their audience.

Another reason why advertisers choose adsense is because they trust Google. The company is renowned for being an ethical company who are fun to work whilst providing free services to millions worldwide. Advertisers feel that money invested with Google is safe. Despite the evolution of click-fraud and its inevitable disadvantages for advertisers they appear to understand that this is an issue which Google wants to stop and hopefully will eventually. Advertisers are happy that Google admits a problem exits and provides refunds accordingly.

The trust in Google also stems from a trust in pricing. The pricing is set by market forces and therefore advertisers never feel that publishers or Google are overpricing the service. This means that as long as advertisers are able to advertise they will continue to do so, if not at the same rates.

Another strong advantage for advertisers is that they can appear where publishers promote their service. An example of this can seen if you consider a publisher who is discussing the benefits of new IT software. If a software retailer appears on the website then inevitably they will be the likely source from which the web surfer will purchase the product. If the surfer is not interested then you could argue that they would not click on the advert.

The service which Google provides has created an opportunity for businesses of all sizes to advertise. Although the issue of click fraud still plagues the service it is till widely regarded as the best. New businesses attempt to promote themselves on the web, whilst established brands alike choose to attract interest in their service using the same technique.

Tools For Adsense

If you're just boarding on the AdSense train, and looking to find a quick way to make the profits you've seen all being pulled of all over the Internet, you might be interested in a couple of tools.

These software tools are designed to aid AdSense publishers in getting a better understanding on how traffic flows through their site. Some will help you in understanding which keywords gain you more money and which locations give you the best AdSense payment.

One of the best such tools available is AdSense Gold (http://www.profitbooks.com/go/astracker) which allows you to have a better understanding of which ads and formats actually get more clicks and which are useful or nearly useless.

This program works by tracking views and clicks on all the publisher's pages. It even goes as far as offering you the possibility to see which referrer each visitor came in through.

There's a free tool called SynSense (http://www.singerscreations.com/RSS/Posts/235.asp) which is more of an AdSense monitoring tool. This sits in the tray and offers actualized AdSense stats as you hover your mouse over its icon. It's a very nice tool for those which like to be informed on how their AdSense is doing at all times of the day.

There is also a program called Golden Keywords out there that helps you in getting the best keywords for your site. It's really efficient and very easy to use. So as you can see, software developers are making more and more programs meant to help you in your quest to maximize your AdSense profits. But before you go out looking for them remember that Google has a few features of its own as well.

It does offer some reports (albeit a bit more limited) and using the 'channels' feature is a good way of finding out which ads on your site are really bringing in most of the revenue.

Be on the look out as new tools appear daily and make sure to invest time in your site, as that is the real key in success with AdSense.

Where Should Adsense Appear?

When deciding whether to incorporate Adsense into your website there are several factors to consider. Many feel that it diminishes their brand, whilst others see it as a useful tool for visitors which creates revenues and makes their content profitable.

This may be true however the thought of an established brand like coco-cola having a Pepsi advert in their website is not even a possibility.

Another factor which is considered in this situation is that publishers do not feel that Adsense is effective in making conversions. They feel that visitors who would click on adverts are not highly qualified customers, as they would quickly navigate to the materials or products that interest them if they were.

Despite Adsense being a questionable choice for online retailers, it is surely a good supplementary service for other varieties of online publishers. Regardless of the disadvantages and the websites for which the service may be inappropriate it is still a useful tool for website visitors. Those who visit a website, and click on a link provide revenues for the publisher, whilst those who provide free services are able to generate revenue.

The only fear that Google has, is that rival PPC programs offer better deals to publishers and they decide to go elsewhere, therefore taking advertisers with them. However, ultimately it is best for advertisers and publishers if they largely remain in same PPC circuit.

Top Paying Keywords

In people's search for higher incomes from Google AdSense a lot of AdSense publishers are looking to find those keywords that really bring the best income possible. The higher an advertiser pays for a keyword, they more the advertiser receives when they click on a link.

But how can you find such words for your site? Well, the answer to that question depends a little on who you are and what you're prepared to do to get those keywords. But the general good news is that you can indeed find such words if you need them.

Of course, if you can afford such a solution, one of the best ways of getting your hands on those words would be to pay for them. There are specialized companies that do business by finding people good keywords, not only for the purpose of more AdSense revenue but for search engine optimization as well.

While you might also be doing this for the first method (paying someone else to get the keywords) it would probably be better then this because you'd at least be narrowing down search to certain items.

While you're trying this make sure to keep using AdSense's 'channels' feature along the way as it can be a very good way of letting you know which sections of your site are generating income and which aren't.

Also, a great aid may very well be found in Google itself. Search Google for any keywords you may wish to include in your pages and look at the results. The results on the left will probably be your competitors (and if they have Google AdSense ads on their page you can bet then are) while the links on the right display ads relevant to your search.

If your search doesn't yield any AdSense results then you might want to reconsider including those keywords in your site.

Make sure you don't use any dead words (words that don't get any links on AdSense other then public ads. That is probably the most important thing you should be doing.

Of course these are only a few methods of getting out of the dead zone and starting to make serious money with AdSense. If you've seen a lot of people with "not so hot" websites generating a lot of AdSense revenue, using these tips can get you right behind them (or in front if you're really smart) very fast. Although this is the case it is also very important to remember that having the highest paying words does not mean that you make the most money. You have to also consider how many times the advert is clicked on.
